Since 2010 I have held the post of Artistic Director for Kent’s Biennial Cultural Celebration. This has involved touring the county to find the most talented young singers, dancers and musicians. It never ceases to amaze me how much talent there is among young people, how focused and committed they are to the skills they have, and what participating in performance does in terms of improving confidence and raising self-esteem.
My interest in, and understanding of, young people has led to my doing a lot of work in schools and universities through lectures and workshops. I have taught at the Anna Scher School in Islington, The King’s School Canterbury, Sandwich Technology School and Herne Bay High School in Kent. I have also given lectures at the University of Kent, Thames Valley University, and Canterbury Christchurch.
