Drama in Education

It is my belief that workshops focusing on the skills needed for theatre production or for personal performance will provide individuals and organisations with the tools necessary to increase their confidence and their potential for success. To that end, we have set up LifeWorks, an organisation committed to honing life skills in young people, about to embark on the next chapter in their lives.
Although I work primarily as a theatre producer, I have an overriding passion for education and how, through imaginative teaching, children (and adults) can see beyond their normal scope and achieve things they never imagined, or thought possible.
My particular area of expertise lies in drama, and I am constantly overwhelmed by how effective drama workshops can be in highlighting current social issues, individual concerns, and drawing from a student, in a controlled and safe environment, information and emotion that had previously remained unaddressed. I also feel very strongly that drama should not be confined to the drama room, as its application in all scholastic disciplines has proved, time and again, to be effective and inspiring.
I have taught drama at the King’s School in Canterbury and the Anna Scher School in Islington. I have also lectured at Thames Valley University in presentation skills and communication and have run a number of corporate training days for companies including House of Fraser, the Metropolitan Police and British Aerospace.
